Frequently Asked Questions

Is it potentially dangerous to cats and dogs?

No. Our experience shows that pets will usually respect the Automower® and leave it alone. The mower is equipped with sensors so that when it runs into an object such as pets, it will reverse itself and chooses another direction to mow. If it does collide with a pet, the contact is very light and unlikely to cause any harm.

Does it have a theft alarm?

Yes. Automower® has several theft protection systems that may be activated. The mower cannot be used without the personal PIN code. The installation lock prevents it from functioning on any other installation other than your own. The time lock requests your four digit PIN to be entered at an interval decided by yourself. The alarm requires the PIN code to be entered when Automower® is stopped – or an audio alarm will go off. In addition, GPS communication units include a GPS tracker available as an accessory for most models.

Is it noisy?

Not at all. The sound level of the Automower® is very low, ranging from 69 dB(A) down to 58 dB(A) depending on the model. It can run at night without disturbing you or your neighbors.  Every morning wake up to a perfectly mowed lawn.

Will I still need an ordinary lawn mower?

Not anymore. However, we do recommend you complement your lawn edges with a weed trimmer or edger for a perfect finish.

I have a nice flower bed and trees that I want to protect. Is that possible?

Absolutely. If the boundary wire has been installed correctly around your flower bed, tree, shrub, or other objects, then the Automower® will not mow in the restricted areas.

Can children play on the lawn when Automower® is working?

Even though Automower® operates on low power, you can still cut your fingers or toes if they come into contact with the cutting blade. A built-in safety feature means the blade will automatically stop if the mower is lifted up or turned over. The distance between the outer body and the blade tip is also extra-long to avoid feet or hands from accidentally reaching the blades. For safety reasons, we recommend turning off mower when small children are playing on the lawn.

How do I maintain the Automower® to keep it in the best condition?

Your mower is a very low maintenance machine, but replacing blades regularly is vital for the best cutting results. Every now and then, depending on your lawn size, you should spend a few minutes cleaning the grass from the wheels and chassis.

How do I install an Automower?

You can either do the installation yourself or have it professionally installed by Robotic Yard Solutions.  The wire can be laid on the ground using the staples that are included in the installation kit.  In a few weeks, the wire will disappear into your lawn.  The wire would be buried in your yard if Robotic Yard Solutions does the installation.

What’s the lifetime of the blades?

The life of the blades depends on the type of soil and grass. Typically, the life is 1-2 months depending on the mowing area. The lightweight blades are super easy to replace. You can replace them in three minutes using a regular screwdriver.  Nine additional blades will run you less then $20.00
